Trans-Am

The current series of Vintage Trans-Am races enable drivers, owners, and fans alike to relive the glory days of the SCCA Pro Trans-Am Racing. At the time, all manufacturers battled to dominate the series, using the best drivers in the country, including such luminaries as Dan Gurney, Parnelli Jones, and George Follmer. The pony cars of Trans-Am were the prime example of the maxim, "Race on Sunday, sell on Monday." A typical field would be made up of Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers, Javelins, AMX's, and Barracudas.

In the vintage racing recreation of the series, acceptable pony cars manufactured from 1966 to 1972 are eligible if they raced in the original Trans-Am series. They must have proper markings and mechanicals that are faithful to the period in which the car originally raced. The cars have five liter engines, four speed manual transmissions, and eight inch wide wheels. Historical authenticity is required of each car.
